Jessica Simien Lofton is a multi-talented entrepreneur, content creator and media professional with over a decade of experience in communications. Her love for storytelling began as a young girl when she would create characters and write novels in her spare spiral notebooks after school, and her interest in the media industry began after realizing that all the things she did for fun could actually become her career.
Jessica studied Mass Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Speech and Dramatic Arts at Jackson State University, where she was also a member of the Honors College. It was during her time at JSU that Jessica began to blossom as a professional. She was a member of the JSU Dance Ensemble, the Public Relations Student Society of America, the JSU Chapter of the NAACP and briefly served as an announcer for the university’s morning jazz show at WJSU. As a student she received a competitive internship with Nissan North America in the area of Community Relations and later worked as a freelance reporter for the Jackson Free Press (now known as the Mississippi Free Press). Jessica went on to earn a master’s degree in Public Relations from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.
She began a professional blogging career in 2012 that afforded her some of the most notable accomplishments and accolades of her career. She has interviewed a number of celebrities and reality TV stars, appeared in multiple commercials, worked with dozens of national and international brands and participated in and hosted many events for several causes.
She created Simien Media Group in 2015 and began consulting as a freelancer with various clients. Through SMG, Jessica has worked in multiple areas such as video production, graphic design, website development, media buying and more. She recently took a break from consulting to work on personal projects and to serve as Content Producer for The Sipp FM.
Jessica currently resides in Jackson, Miss. with her husband Tony and their three children – Marley, Mason and Ari. Together they run their family business, Lofton & Co.
