DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INC. JACKSON (MS) ALUMNAE CHAPTER HOST GO RED FOR WOMEN: TOTAL FITNESS EVENT

The Jackson (MS) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, in partnership with the American Heart Association, is proud to announce the Go Red for Women: Total Fitness Event. This empowering and educational event will take place on February 1, 2024, beginning at 10:00am at the Kirksey Middle School Gym, 5677 Highland Drive, Jackson, MS, 39206. This year’s Total Fitness Event focuses on the causes of heart disease and actionable ways to improve the health and well-being of African American women. 

Health disparities within our community remain prevalent, with African American women often placing their own health behind other priorities. Many are not making healthy lifestyle choices or recognizing the warning signs of heart disease. This interactive event aims to change that by providing resources, education, and practical steps for prevention. 

The event will feature partnerships with the American Heart Association, medical providers, and fitness instructors to deliver an engaging and informative experience. Participants will receive hands-on instruction in simple exercises designed to increase heart rate and improve cardiovascular health. Additionally, medical professionals will discuss key factors that directly impact heart disease, such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, and stress, while providing guidance on when to seek timely medical attention.

This event is open to the public, and all are welcome and attendees are encouraged to wear workout clothing for the interactive exercise.
